Nick's professional theatre career began with a 1-year Director’s Attachment to the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 1986-7

SHOW OF STRENGTH

He was then one of the founding Artistic Directors of the new writing company, Show of Strength’s, award-winning pub theatre project in Bristol. From 1988 to 1993 he was instrumental in running the company, reading plays and programming seasons as well as directing 5 productions:-

FOD PRODUCTIONS

In 1992 he set up his own company, FOD Productions, initially to tour classic plays to outdoor historic locations in the Gloucesterhire/S.E.Wales area.
He later extended the work into small-scale touring.
In all he produced and directed six touring productions:-

Cyrano de Bergerac - Rostand/Burgess - Outdoor tour
The Taming of the Shrew - Shakespeare - Outdoor tour
Henry IV Part 1 - Shakespeare - Outdoor tour
The Revenger's Tragedy - Tourneur - Small-scale tour

Edward II - Marlowe - Small-scale tour + Berkeley Castle
Becket - Jean Anouilh/ Jeremy Sams - Outdoor Tour

In 1996, in the absence of funding, he moth-balled FOD Prouctions, but revived it in 2004 to produce and tour his own play Queer Counsel

WHAT NOW PRODUCTIONS
When Nick and his partner, actor/writer Richard Curnow, moved to Cornwall in 2020 they set up a new company - What Now Productions, for whom Nick has produced and directed two tours of his own plays:

Come Out Fighting - toured SW, London 2023

Junkies - toured Brighton, Cornwall, Midlands, 2025
